And yes, that is, at its core, racist. A lot of that is marketing and a lot of it is just this ingrained racism. So fundamentally, the entire country is underexposed. And so we decide to fetishize the other and appropriate things. And it continues this cycle. I see all of these African-Americans raising their voices and getting representation. Go get it! But then you say, hold on one second: And the only way this is going to change is if you have an Asian leading man in a major Hollywood release, with Julia Roberts falling in love with him.

Did you feel an extra weight being one of the few leading Asian men in media, even if just for a week? The whole experience was just sort of an experiment that I thought would be fun to do.

It was certainly something that, when I was less competent and less secure as a teenager, you kind of tiptoe around it. But that causes its own problems.

People are already underexposed to us. We did another one without the cameras there, which was great. We kept in touch for a while, but sort of, I call it, mutually disengaged. Did you learn anything from being on the show about how to behave on dates? The short answer is yes.

She realizes she doesn't have to put up with John's grossness, and so she promptly leaves. We should all adopt this mind-set when it comes to dating, but that's easier said than done sometimes. John's comments clearly made Sarah uncomfortable, but it took two of them for her to leave the date. When she does, she pads her reasoning for dipping out with kindness. Last week I told a cat caller to shut up, and he followed me for six blocks. The fear is that it will take many years for this problem to go away, if ever. After all, the gender imbalance in our culture is deeply entrenched and has emboldened men to mistreat women for years. That's slowly changing with the rise of the Time's Up and MeToo movements, but society still has a long way to go. When it comes to situations like Sarah's and Amanda's and Gabby's, though, the onus shouldn't be on women to correct men's actions: It's on men to not be creeps in the first place.
